Kaloud Ayara Carbon Filters Guide

The Kaloud Ayara™ Carbon Filter system is designed with advanced filtration science to enhance your hookah experience.

Here is a comprehensive guide to understanding, using, and caring for your filters.

How to Use and Care for Your Ayara Filters

Proper use and maintenance are essential for optimal performance.

Compatibility

  • Generation 1.0: All Generation 1.0 Kaloud Krysalis® systems use Large Ayara filters.

  • Generation 2.0: All Generation 2.0 Kaloud Krysalis® systems use Small Ayara filters.

  • Note on Size: The small and large filters are not better than one another. They contain the same amount of activated carbon, simply in a different shape to fit their respective systems.

Cleaning and Lifespan

  • Cleaning: Between sessions, the filter pods should be rinsed thoroughly with warm water. Do not use soap or detergents.

  • Replacement: We recommend using the filters for a maximum of 21 sessions to ensure ideal performance.

The Science of Ayara: Adsorption

Ayara’s Carbon Filters are designed based on the scientific process of adsorption, which is often confused with absorption but is very different.

  • Absorption vs. Adsorption

    • Absorption occurs when a substance is taken into another, much like how a sponge soaks up water.

    • Adsorption, on the other hand, is a surface phenomenon. It happens when molecules attach to the surface of another material.

  • How Activated Carbon Works The core material in Ayara’s filters is activated carbon, which has an enormous surface area because of its intricate network of microscopic pores. Just one gram of activated carbon can have more than one thousand square meters of surface area.

This makes it highly effective at capturing certain substances. As smoke passes through the filter, these unwanted compounds stick to the surface of the carbon through weak chemical bonds and natural molecular forces.

How Ayara and Lotus® Work Together

The Ayara filter is one part of an integrated system designed to refine the hookah experience, working in concert with the Kaloud Lotus® Heat Management Device (HMD).

  • Filtering Harmful Substances When tobacco and charcoal are heated, they release a wide range of byproducts. These can include volatile organic compounds, tar, ammonia, acrolein, formaldehyde, benzene, heavy metals, and other substances.

The structure of the activated carbon in Ayara filters is designed to capture and hold these chemicals before they can be inhaled. It does not absorb them like a sponge, but rather attracts and binds them to the surface of the carbon, effectively removing them from the smoke stream.

  • The Role of the Lotus HMD The Kaloud Lotus HMD enhances this process by carefully regulating heat using high-quality metals and specialized coatings. This prevents excessive burning of the charcoal and tobacco, which in turn reduces the production of harmful byproducts.

Additionally, the Lotus acts as a barrier, blocking ash and larger particles from entering the smoke. This helps keep the flavor clean while reducing the amount of debris and particulate matter.

Inspired by Nature and Science

  • A Natural Analogy In the human body, the liver and kidneys serve as natural filters, processing and removing harmful substances from the bloodstream to protect your health. In a similar way, Ayara acts as the filtration organ of the hookah system. It helps protect you by removing toxic chemicals from the smoke before it reaches your body, providing a cleaner and safer experience.

  • A Trusted Material Activated carbon has long been used in environmental settings. It is used in water purification systems to remove pesticides and chemicals, and in air filters to capture fumes and improve air quality.

In every case, the effectiveness of activated carbon comes from its ability to adsorb harmful substances onto its vast surface area.

Conclusion

Together, Ayara Carbon Filters and the Kaloud Lotus HMD form a powerful system that refines your flavor experience and provides peace of mind. Just as nature relies on filters to maintain purity, your hookah experience can rely on Ayara to remove targeted elements from the smoke path.

This is more than just innovation—it is thoughtful engineering inspired by the way nature protects us.
